Sturgeon is a small city located in Boone County, MO, and according to the 2010 census, the population was 872. The population fell from the 2000 census data of 944. The city is made up of only 0.6 square miles of area, and all of it consists of land. One of the most recent notable events in Sturgeon occurred in 2000 when the boys’ high school basketball team won the state championship. Seasons fluctuate greatly in the city of Sturgeon, and winter months see temperatures below freezing, while summer months are typically warm.
Due to the relatively small size of Sturgeon, few attractions are available within the city limits. Most areas of interest can be found in nearby communities. Located in nearby Hallsville, the Green Valley Rifle and Pistol Club is a great destination for shooting enthusiasts, and the Victorian Country Inn B&B and Tea Room provides for authentic lodging accommodations. The Backwoods Terror is another popular destination, and it serves as an outdoor haunted attraction in nearby Centralia.
